Proficiency Growth over 2 1/2 years in a Desk-Free Classroom

As I’ve posted before, we have students complete video diaries which are a series of videos from when they start our Spanish program until they leave. They are given some prompts in English that are supposed to push them out of their comfort zone at times. During these videos they are encouraged to talk about a variety of topics. We also do interviews in which students have a conversation with the teacher, often the language is stronger in those interviews because the teacher is able to ask for clarification. But, the videos provide a way for us to collect evidence on their language. This is unpracticed and off the top of their heads. Here are some video samples from one of my students.
